I got an email from MaterMan Phil, and he sent along some pictures of his heirlooms. I feel so much better now! I thought he was over there munching on BLT's already, but as it turns out, his tomatoes are all still green! The pictures above are of his Costuloto Genovese tomato (an Italian varietal with scalloped edges!) and Julia Child's.

Well now Jan...To date I have eaten 3 ripe tomatoes from my garden. The earliest to ripen this year was a "Giant Syrian", a pink beefsteak type that was very fruity. It was followed by two from an "Early Girl" a perennial early variety hybrid I have been growing for 25 years. I have since picked but not eaten a "Paul Robeson" and a "Black Zebra". Today I will pick two "Italian Heirloom" tomatoes that have been turning for several days. I hope this doesn’t make you ripe with envy…..
